Jan Jacobus (Jac. J.) Koeman (Edam 16th November, 1889 - Bergen (North Holland), 11th September, 1978) was a Dutch watercolourist, painter, draftsman, sculptor, ceramicist, book binding designer, etcher, lithographer and moderator.
He worked in Edam (Edam-Volendam), Zaandam (Zaanstad), Paris, London, Loosdrecht, Amsterdam, Blaricum and Bergen (Noord-Holland) from 1934. In his period in Zaandam, he gave painting lessons to various artists.
He had a one-year training at the Quellinus Arts School in Amsterdam and continued to work as an autodidact copy at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
He is best known for his images on pictures in the Verkade-albums (animals, flowers, plants etc.), for which he also provided the book bindings, and he also made still lifes, figure scenes, landscapes, nudes, portraits, cityscapes, and winter landscapes. His artistic work is part of the Bergense School. He was a member of the Vereeniging Sint Lucas in Amsterdam, Vereeniging van Beeldende Kunstenaars in Laren and Kunstenaars Centrum Bergen (KCB).
